Why do I need TSM Reports, if everything is running fine?

TSM Reports is like having a dashboard for TSM. No one can appreciate the amount of work each TSM server is doing, unless you show them. Now its simple to report all the monthly client and server specific workloads being supporting, day after day. See "Success Stories" for more specific details. Remember ... if you can't measure it, you can't mange it.

I use some other TSM Admin tools, how is TSM Reports different?

TSM Reports unique tools and services provide management functionality, first and foremost. This includes summarized reporting and analysis details on a monthly basis. Our reporting periods are normally 30 days and this information is collected only once a month, in minutes. Our mission is to quantitatively define the unique requirements of your environment, based on measuring the client facing storage capacities and the data change rates. This drives the actual data volumes that must be serviced by the storage management infrastructure.

What are the technical prerequisites for using TSM Reports?

As TSM Reports utilizes the Tivoli API's, the prerequisites are the same as for the TSM Backup-Archive Client for Windows. This includes Windows XP, Server 2003 and 2000 Professional, Server, Advanced Server and Data Center. Version 5.2.x (or higher) of the TSM BAClient is preferred and recommended. The same Version 5.2.x (or higher) of the TSM ODBC Client is also required.

How can I best utilize this product?

We provide all the processes, methodology and tools you need to completely automate the site data collection and subsequent upload. Only with constant measurement can you be assured you know and understand the real characteristics of your storage management environment. Don't be fooled into using one-time analysis offerings. TSM Reports best value and benefit is with the Annual Program, for maximum visibility.

Why is the TSM Reports process important to me?

Because of the very unique and automated process employed by TSM Reports, no onsite visits are required. This eliminates a large part of the labor costs normally associated with this type of discovery work. The functionality of our Active Site Probe displaces hours of manual labor that would normally be required to complete a site discovery. These efficiencies are what enables us to provide an Annual Program at that which others charge for a single onsite visit.
