Powerful tools to help you take control of TSM
Eliminate the questions regarding how hard your TSM servers are
working. Show Management on a regular basis the amount of data
that you have under management. Without the facts, your value will
never be as high as it could be.
Integrated components of TSM Reports
unique process:
- Active Site Probe (or
ASP) - we provide you with the data collection tools for TSM,
that you install and run in-house. A standard collection period
includes 30 days of statistics.
- Secure FTP - each month you upload the data
collection files via secure FTP for subsequent processing and
analysis.
- Active DB Analyzer - the uploaded data
includes only the site statistics required to develop the
powerful metrics that represent the performance
characteristics of your TSM infrastructure. A more powerful
schema of your site data is created which is the source data for
your TSM Reports Package.
- Reports Package - a customized collection of reports
(see partial schedule below) is developed from your
enhanced site data, including detailed graphics and supporting
details. The TSM Reports Package is normally delivered to you
within 48 hours.
- Findings Review - a conference call review is
scheduled with one of our trained Services Partners, to maximize
the benefits of our powerful analysis findings.

TSM Reports Package delivers ...
TSM Reports provides a comprehensive breakdown across three
distinctive categories, including TSM Characteristics, Compliance and
Performance.
Characteristics
Those details that are unique to only your specific
environment. Examples include:
- Disk Storage Pool Layout
- TSM Database Physicals
- Client Inventory by OS classification
- TSM Domains
- Management Classes
- Policies
Compliance
Including issues identified when TSM best practices are not
followed. Potential exposures to critical data loss can be
associated with these scenarios. Some compliance areas include:
- Tivoli BAclient versions
- Last Client access date, out of range
- Missed Client backup schedules
- Primary vs Copy pool occupancy imbalance
- Failed objects from successful backups
- IP Subnet loading for full client restores
Performance
Indicated levels of the volume-metrics resulting from
your current configuration and infrastructure. Your Reports
Package reflects the specific performance metadata collected from
each 30 day sample period. Some examples include:
- Client Filespace, Total vs Used
- Client monthly data change rates
- Client Daily BU, Archive, Restore, Retrieve
- Top 20% of Backup Clients, by volume
- Normal vs Disrupted volume patterns
- Average vs Peak monthly backup/archive
- Server daily, weekly, monthly volumes
- Disk Pool migration volumes
- Storage Pool copy volumes
Advanced Functionality
With storage requirements and infrastructures becoming more
complex and critical, visibility around storage management
practices is imperative. To this end, TSM Reports can deliver all
the metrics you need, including:
- Yearly Trending Analysis
- TSM Infrastructure and What-If Sizing
- Charge Back Reporting by Client
- Your Statistics versus national "Norms"
- Custom work for your special requirements

Addressing Main TSM Pain Points
|
 |
| |
TSM
Reports directly addresses the major pains of TSM,
including:
1. Management
Internal resources committed 100%
with
supporting admin and operations.
2. Scaling
Requirements expand as storage
capacity grows, creating a continuous scaling effect.
3. Trends
Operations not resourced to
deal with the bigger picture, so not privy to overall
trends.
4. Performance
Throughput ultimately determines the
scale of what your TSM instance can manage.
Compliance
An issue when storoge under TSM
control can not be recovered.
